This weekend/pre-week I had been thinking about imperfection, flaws and breaking rules. Different things put that on my mind, including Elizabeth Taylor, Lucky magazine, Las Vegas society, and my -I'm feeling lethargic and disillusioned so I must listen to this- band Pepper Rabbit . So, what did I learn? Imperfection is beautiful gorgeous, enchanting, and absolutely perfect. I can say, at least for myself, that the most beautiful people are the ones with some sort of flaw, weirdness and uniqueness about them.Elizabeth Taylor technically was flawed. Her violet eyes and lush eyelashes were a mutation. She was not a stick thin, she had to watch her weight. She also had some vices. But all of that made her stand out in the crowd and enchant people. Her violet eyes, healthy figure, character, talent, general persona made"women like her and men adore her." Elizabeth Taylor will never be replaced.
In a recent trip to Vegas, I had alot of fun but, I felt lost in a world of nauseating sameness. All the guys if they weren't doing a terrible impersonation of a baller, basically looked the same: relaxed jeans, long untucked aeropostale tshirts or button downs, flip flops. or sketchers sneakers, cared for"I could care less" hair, drinks in hand, and indifferent nonchalant airs. The women looked the same too: flat ironed hair, tons and tons of make-up ,bottle tans, short short body sleeve dresses, super super scary high stilettos, drinks in hand, and, desperate for male attention written all over them. I was dying to see some independent style, attitude, some weird( Wonderfull, Inspiring, Energetic, Real ,Different).
On the subject of weird I was reading my Lucky magazine which featured Zooey Deschanel, my favorite lady in the biz.I love her because she is so real and quirky chic. (She doesn't like people to call her quirky, sorry Zoey)Anyways, there was an article about going rogue in fashion. Wearing warm weather leather, matching colors, chic-ified granny suits, all-over animal prints; I just loved the ideas, they were absolutely gorgeous. Its funny that the rule in fashion now is to break the rules. But, following that rule is again following a rule. So I think the rule, that's not a rule, should be to wear whatever you feel like wearing.
This post could not end without Elizabeth Taylor quotes. My favorites:
