I Give Credit Where Its Due, With My Own Two Cents.

Last night I went through all my amazing followers blogs and realized that I was being quite unfair. In less than a month of blogging I had given at least two shout-outs to Florence + the Machine but absolutely none to Bat for Lashes....This is wrong because Bat For Lashes was one of the performers who in a way"changed my life". I can't tell you if i started embracing my weirdness before or after listening to FA TM and BFL because it was all in the same time frame... All I can say for sure is that around that time period, I started gaining my own convictions, tastes, style, and perspective. Without those things, I never would have started blogging at all. So all things considered, its about time I did a Bat For Lashes post on emmaspicnic...

     Her song Sleep Alone is really good. It's not my absolute favorite Bat For Lashes song( Daniel has taken that spot),but the Sleep Alone music video is my favorite Bat For Lashes music video.  The video and the lyrics got me thinking about the subject of romance and true love. Being that I'm only fifteen, I won't even pretend to be an expert on this subject since that would be plain presumptuous. I'll just state what I think, after  observations, somewhat experience and extraction. In order to truly love  someone, you have to truly love yourself. To state it in two sentences: Truly loving someone is knowing someone's  faults, ,  good qualities,  and valuing them for both of them. . You want them just the way they are,  you want to make them as happy as possible because they  inspire you to be the best you can be. In order to do that for someone else, you have to do it for yourself. Your ,imperfections,assets,talents, tastes, and personality all make up who you are. While you need to always strive to be the best you can be, its important to embrace what makes you you..If you love, inspire, and accept yourself, you'll feel all warm happy fuzzy inside and more than willing to share that love, inspiration and acceptance with someone else.


   All that being said, another important thing in having a truly fulfilling romantic experience and life in general is Never To Settle. One is not the loneliest number(unhappy two is the loneliest number)..There is more happiness in being single, than being in an unhappy relationship. Relationships based on desperation or shallow infatuation eventually lead  to misery and/or disillusionment. There is a big difference between being alone and being lonely. Being  in the alone boat or the lonely boat, is all in your attitude and how much you love yourself..To conclude in a nutshell, the best true love quote of all time is," to find Mr. Right you have to be Miss Right."
The best depictions of true from the heart love in a novel are in, Jane Eyre ( Jane Eyre and Mr. Rochester), Wuthering Heights ( Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff) and in Les Miserables( Jean Valjean and Fantine) let's not forget the movie Titanic( Jack and Rose)


On a fluffier note, Isn't Bat For Lashes little studio apartment in the video, uuber cutee..I totally vibe it, especially her retro TV set and neon heart.. Fashion wise, her red rain slicker and pink,demure nightdress were absolutely lovely chic..I want to write her and ask her where she found those. Actually I will, she might not answer being famous and all, but she might, and anyways I asked.  The inspiration I get from that video is endless, but if i had to name one thing that inspired me the most, I think I would say I was most inspired by her hair. My hair is bobbed so I obviously cant completely copy her look, but I can and do do the bangs... and occasionally the  sparkly rainbow face paint..:)
